Meaningful Consultation Invitation with Private/Home Schools 2024
Stokes County Schools is in the process of developing its annual grant for the 2024-2025 school year in order to apply for federal funding for the education of students with disabilities under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, IDEA 2004. These funds will be used to provide comprehensive special education and related services for students who are eligible to receive such services under IDEA 2004 and the 2007 North Carolina Procedures Governing Services for Students with Disabilities.
In accordance with federal law, private schools or registered homeschools are invited to participate in the meaningful consultation process regarding the development of the Stokes County Schools IDEA, Title VI, Part B Grant. The meaningful consultation process will include discussion of the process for identifying students with disabilities through child find, determining the proportionate share of IDEA funds available for parentally-placed private school or homeschool children who are eligible as exceptional children, and the details of provision (how/where) of equitable services within the Stokes County Schools district.
